Hypnosis

Like meditation, hypnosis creates a state of altered awareness, which can be directed effectively towards the control of stress. The person under hypnosis responds to suggestions proffered by the therapist: for example, he or she may be asked to picture stressful situations and ways in which to deal with them effectively.

These suggested remedies then stay with the person outside the periods of treatment, to be made use of as and when required. Hypnosis can thus be highly effective in controlling stress, especially particularly acute manifestations of it, but will depend for its success on degree of suggestibility - some people respond to hypnosis much better than others.
