These partners remain compatible as long as no one rocks the boat or changes. Both husband and wife have their well-defined roles. One is usually dominant in relation to the other.
The husband may be father to the wife, or husband and wife may treat each other as siblings. The one thing that upsets the entire balance is the birth of a child, which may turn the marriage into an antagonistic type.
