Choosing Friends |

It is impossible to overemphasize the importance of choosing friends carefully. The friends you choose carry into other parts of your life. In junior high and high school, friends play a huge role in your life. Never again will you lean so much on them and learn so much about life. Friends can bless your life and make the rough spots easier, or ruin your life and lead you down the wrong roads.
Your parents' opinions of your friends say a lot about their character. Your parents are older and wiser than you and have experience in judging people. They can see things you may not see. Listen to their opinions. Try not to block out what they are saying if you do not agree. They want only the best for you and your life.
If you like a particular friend of whom they don't approve, ask them why? Sit down and talk to your parents. Ask for their reasoning.
It is best to have friends of the same background as you, friends who have things in common with you. Remember, friends who want you to do things that you feel strongly against are not really friends. Friends who constantly get you into trouble are not friends. Ask yourself whether this one friend is worth a lot of heartache and worry with your family?
Real friends will be with you through good and bad times. You will find out who your true friends are when you go through a crisis; look around and see who is with you. Good friends should bring out the best in you, and you should bring out the best in them. Good friends try to get along with your parents, and encourage you to make good grades, and observe your curfew. Good friends will not lie to you or steal your boyfriend. A good friend will stand up for you when nobody else will. Good friends are worth their weight in gold. But to have a friend, you have to be a friend.
