The phone can be a blessing and a curse. It is scary to answer the phone when you are alone and find no one on the line, or the person says something scary or nasty to you. HANG UP if the caller becomes vulgar. Blow a sharp whistle in the phone to hurt the car of the caller.
If the calls continue, notify the police. Such calls are illegal, and the phone company along with the police can trace them. You do not have to give information to a stranger. NEVER tell a stranger calling that you are home alone, say that your parents are in the garage or in the shower.
