What are the warning signs of a person is wanting to run away?In most cases the person will say that he or she intends to do so. He will tell others that he is unhappy with his life and wants a change.
In recent years the American family has been under enormous stress. Most families overextend themselves financially. Many husbands hold two jobs just to live pay-check to paycheck. About half of all mothers with children under eighteen are now working.
Everybody wants to be happy, wants the perfect life. The more we have, the more we want. We are never satisfied with our lot in life. Adults teach their children from an early age that the way to be happy is by accumulating material things. When the children grow up and discover how hard that is, they become bitter and want to quit, want to run.
Studies show that adults who ran away as children tend to be more emotionally disturbed, more given to heavy use of alcohol and drugs, and more prone to criminal behavior. Troubled kids run from troubled families into a troubled world that does not care what happens to them. Too many juvenile runaways become emotionally disturbed or un-stable adults who raise a bunch of disturbed kids who become runaways.
