Characteristics Of RunawaysThey are impulsive. They are easily distracted and act on impulse. They can't bear to delay gratification; they can't tolerate frustration. They may have an uncontrollable temper, be lonely and withdrawn, or cling desperately to peer groups. Runaways do not trust adults. They have low self-esteem. What do runaway teens need most? Parents who give them lots of love and teach them self-respect and self- determination.
Parents Runs AwayWhat are the circumstances that drive men and women to disappear from their families? An accumulation of anger, resentment, disappointments, unmet expectations in relation to their spouse and possibly their children. Men may lace a financial crisis, fail to get an expected raise or promotion, or lose a job. Others leave simply for a change in life or to better their status. An unhappy home life is an element in all runaways by adults.
Some take money from a joint bank account before departing. Others take off with the car and the family savings.
Most men run away impulsively with nothing but the clothes on their backs. All they know is that they can’t take it anymore. Some leave for work after kissing their wife good-bye and never return home. Some leave notes, some don't. Some call, some don't.
