It happens at least 23,000 times a year when the combination of alcohol and an automobile results in death. Two and a half million people are maimed for life as a result of auto accidents. Drinking and driving is the number one teen killer; it kills eight thousand teenagers a year.
Surveys cited by the National Council on Alcoholism report that 30 percent of the nation is nine-year-olds feel pressured to drink. Today there are 3.3 million teenage alcoholics in the United States; that's one in every nine teens! A teenage alcoholic, like any alcoholic, commits slow suicide. The body is damaged and the life span is reduced.
