A recent Weekly Reader survey of the drug scene reported that 39 percent of fourth graders said that using drugs is a big problem. Teens and young kids use drugs to fit in. Of students interviewed, 76 percent usually buy drugs from other students, and 14 percent buy from a dealer near school; 36 percent were first offered drugs at ages twelve to fifteen. Among youth twelve to seventeen 12 percent are regular pot users. Forty-two percent of high school seniors smoked pot during the year and stayed stoned an average of three hours each time. By the end of high school, two thirds of American teenagers have used illicit drugs. Teens will do anything to get high, sniff gas or glue, inhale aerosol spray.
Teenager, watch out for drugs. They are a never-ending nightmare. Be smart. Say NO to drugs.
