Measure Your Pulse

Learn to measure your pulse. It is an easy indicator of your stress level and is excellent for relaxation and biofeedback techniques.

 

1. Begin by sitting, with the elbow of your right arm resting on a mid chest-high support. A cable or desk is usually convenient.

 

2. Find your pulse on the underside of your right wrist. It is on the outside as you look down while holding your palm up.

 

3. Use the first three fingers of your left hand to find the pulse on your right wrist.

 

4. Once you find your pulse, count it for a full minute.

 

Experiment with your pulse. Take it alter you run u stairs, when you are nervous or relaxed, during and after exercise, when you are stressed out, and at other times. When you are seated and relaxed, your pulse should be about 70 to 75 beats per minute or less. A lower resting heart rate usually characterizes a healthy cardiovascular system. For exam le, a well-conditioned athlete usually has a resting heart rate below 50.
