Deep Breathing

The simplest relaxation techniques is deep breathing. Instead of breathing shallowly through your chest, this technique focus on using your diaphragm. First, inhale deeply through your nose, drawing your breath from the base of your lungs.

 

Imagine that you are filling up your lungs with oxygen as they are balloons. Take four or five full seconds to inhale, then exhale slowly. Exhale at least the same amount of time you inhale, and repeat the breathing for ten times.

 

This simple technique will lower your heart rate and replace your anxiety with calm, and relaxation response.
