Learn to 'listen' to your body, to detect signs of stress at an early stage, when you can take relevant action. Frowning, involuntarily clenching fists, sitting in a hunched, uncomfortable position, or tensely on the edge of a chair, shallow breathing, teeth-grinding, walking compulsively up and down, moving a crossed leg rapidly up and down, are all easily identifiable stress symptoms.
Be aware of your posture in everyday situations and be prepared to correct it when necessary. For example, if you find yourself gripping the telephone receiver unnecessarily tightly during a telephone conversation, or the steering wheel of the car when driving.
