Tap water and bottled water sometimes contain too much sodium. Often the sodium is salt (sodium chloride). To determine the salt content of your tap water, ask your municipal government. The salt content of bottled water should be indicated on the label.
Do some calculations. You should drink about 64 ounces of water daily; that is a little over 2 quarts. If the water doesn't supply more than 25 milligrams of sodium per quart, it is all right. Even if you don't drink any water, you get it from beverages and foods. Remember, you should be drinking a minimum of 32 ounces of water daily.
