A boss who couldn't give his employees an annual raise couched the news by stating, "Take a moment of silence to thank your individual God that we all have a job." Then, he led into the economics that meant "no raise this year."
In the direst situations, we search for a positive anchor, When someone dies after suffering from a disease, we often say, "At least she's not in any more pain," or if someone had a massive heart attack, "It was over so quickly that he didn't suffer."
If you make a habit of searching everything for at least one positive point and sharing that point with those around you, you will find that you'll have less stress. The stressors are still there, but your mental outlook has been elevated so they don't seem quite as overwhelming. You’ve made yourself taller instead of pulling the world down to your height.
