Vitamin C

Smokers need at least twice the amount of vitamin C as nonsmokers; at the very least, 120 milligrams or more daily. Eat more fruits and vegetables, eat a second orange, or drink another glass of orange juice. Vitamin C supplements are also helpful.

 

A smoker should take a 500-milligram vitamin C supplement in the morning and in the evening, for a daily total of 1,000 milligrams.
