Sometimes stress may have no readily apparent cause. Instead, it may be linked to feelings of uncertainty, suspense and apprehension, and the unpleasant negative responses and sense of frustration that these can bring. Many people, when asked to give their idea of a stressful situation, will describe one to which they are unable to see an answer or find a way out of. For example, the terrifying uncertainty created by the nuclear threat can be truly described as one of life’s greatest stressors.
Stress is not the same as pressure, although pressure can contribute to the creation of stress. A pressured situation can be rewarding, even enjoyable in terms of the extra effort, resourcefulness, organization and concentration it demands, provided you can see your way out of it.
