Tyrosine is found in chicken, turkey, fish, almonds, soy, milk, cheese, yogurt, and in pumpkin and sesame seeds. A dose of 500-1,000 mg is commonly recommended.
If you are taking MAO inhibitors for depression, you should not take tyrosine because it can cause severe spike in blood pressure, leading to heart attack or stroke. People who have a history of melanoma also should not take tyrosine.
